A rare red-finished set of vintage track cogs with a direct connection to Dutch track cycling history. This set originates from former KNWU Dutch National Track Team mechanic Felix, who prepared and maintained race equipment for elite Dutch track riders.
The red paint was most likely applied for quick visual identification, allowing mechanics and riders to distinguish setups during training sessions and competitions, a common practice within national track teams.
Some cogs in this set feature flattened teeth, a modification carried out on a lathe to reduce weight and potentially minimize rolling resistance, reflecting the hands-on race preparation typical of the pre-marginal-gains era.
